Recovering after birth: warmth, nourishment and rest
Recovery after birth is personal. Yet across traditions, three principles return again and again: keep warm, eat well, and rest.
Warmth
Traditions such as sanhujori place warmth first. Warm rooms, warm drinks and warm textiles help the body direct its energy to recovery.
Nourishment
Food is part of recovery. Simple, nourishing meals that arrive without effort make a real difference when sleep is short.
Rest
Rest is the work of recovery, not a reward for it. Protecting time to sleep and simply be with your baby matters more than any routine.
Care close by
Questions arise at every hour in the first weeks. Knowing that a midwife or care professional is close by brings calm.
This article is general reflection, not medical advice. For any concern about your health or your baby's, speak to your midwife or doctor.
